About Christopher
I have always enjoyed teaching people math. As a kid in the 8th grade, I was tutoring high school students in algebra. Whether it's helping students that have fallen behind to catch up, or helping an advanced student push it to the next level, I greatly enjoy teaching math and related subjects. I've recently taken my two oldest children out of school due to my concerns over inadequate math education. For my nine-year-old in particular, math in school had become a miserable ordeal. 3rd grade was essentially a lost year. Now, with his progress and enthusiasm, we're halfway through 6th grade math and I have little doubt we'll complete 7th grade math by the end of this school year. Before joining the military, I was an after-school tutor for middle school students, and every student I worked with made remarkable progress. I was honorably discharged from the military earlier this year, and I've been using my GI Bill to acquire an electrical engineering degree from UAA. My wife of 17 years and I are both from Alaska, and we have five children together.

The ultimate goal is deep and fluent comprehension of the material. As a tutor, I pay keen attention to how my students are approaching the problems, sorting out what they're struggling with, and adapting the lesson to their needs in the moment.
This can take the form of:
- Illustrative examples to make the math tangible and intuitive.
- Breaking down the process such that the purpose of every step of a solution is clear.
- Coaching students through any frustrations and insecurities they may be dealing with.

Perfect! We hired Chris to help our daughter improve her math grade. Even though we are in Saudi Arabia, Chris delivers.
Chris did the pre-work to understand where my daughter was in her stuides. Then he identified her weakness and helped her fill in the gaps in her knowledge. Chris was able to do this on Skype calls with real world visual conceptual examples so my daughter could relate.
After a few short weeks we have seen very positive results.
