About Catherine

I’m a qualified secondary teacher with more than 30 years’ experience teaching in Australia and internationally. My background includes Mathematics, English, and Humanities, and I have taught students across a wide range of abilities and confidence levels.
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to slow things down, identify exactly where a student is getting stuck, and explain concepts in a way that makes sense to them. Many students do not need more work — they need clearer explanations, careful practice, and someone who can spot the gaps.
I am patient, practical, and encouraging, but I also expect students to think, participate, and build independence. My aim is to help students become more confident and capable in Mathematics, not simply get through the next test.

I’m an experienced secondary Mathematics teacher offering clear, supportive tutoring for primary school students and Years 7–10.
My approach is practical and individual. I first identify where a student’s gaps or misunderstandings are, then work through concepts step by step using clear explanations, worked examples and targeted practice. I focus on building both skills and confidence, rather than simply giving students more worksheets.
I can help with number, fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra, equations, geometry, measurement, statistics, probability and general problem-solving. I also support students preparing for tests or catching up after falling behind.
Lessons are usually 60 minutes and can be adapted to the student’s needs, pace and schoolwork. I have more than 30 years’ teaching experience and currently teach secondary Mathematics. My lessons are best suited to students who want patient, structured support from an experienced classroom teacher.
