I am a second-year Mathematics undergraduate at Durham University. Outside of my academic studies, I am an avid rower with six years of experience in the sport. Throughout my time rowing, I have taken great pride in coaching novices and passing my knowledge on to those just entering the sport. Watching them refine their technique and build their confidence is incredibly fulfilling, as I love knowing I have made a tangible, positive difference in their journey.
I apply this exact same coaching philosophy to my mathematics tutoring. Just as I help new rowers master the fundamentals step-by-step until the boat glides smoothly, I am deeply committed to guiding students through their mathematical challenges. Witnessing a student’s progress and seeing them finally grasp a complex equation brings me that same immense satisfaction. My teaching philosophy centres on establishing a strong foundational understanding before progressively introducing more complex elements. By breaking down difficult topics step-by-step, I help students simplify challenging problems and develop the critical thinking skills necessary to approach unfamiliar questions independently.
I offer focused, one-hour lessons tailored to students aged 15 to 18. My curriculum comprehensively covers GCSE Mathematics, A-Level Mathematics, A-Level Further Mathematics, as well as rigorous preparation for Oxford and Cambridge entrance examinations.
Having recently completed these exact assessments myself, I possess direct insight into the examination formats, marking criteria, and the most effective test-taking strategies. Backed by three years of experience adapting my methods to suit a wide spectrum of academic abilities, I am highly equipped to guide students towards their target grades.
