About David

I have extensive classroom experience, having taught for the better part of a decade now, and have always strived to provide the highest quality of instruction possible for my students. At the same time, I’ve found it crucial to meet students where they are, to really pay attention to what they’re saying and engage with their existing knowledge. As much as teaching is about getting students to understand the material, it’s about understanding the students, what they know and don’t know, as well as where subtle misapprehensions are getting in the way of their progress. This is the sort of work I enjoy most.

About the lesson

I’m currently a teacher at a small school in northern Virginia, where I primarily teach one-on-one classes tailored to student needs, as well as small groups of no more than eight to ten students. I’ve taught courses in algebra (I & II), geometry, and precalculus every year for 8 years now, as well as calculus for most of those years. I’ve also taught courses on probability & statistics and consumer finances for the last few years. I’m passionate about math and have found a lot of success in my teaching by focusing on problem-solving strategies, emphasizing fundamentals, and building student intuition.
