About Lillian
Hi! I’m a second year student at Imperial College London with a strong foundation in mathematics. Before university, I studied in the US under the AP system, where I completed courses in algebra, geometry, and both single and multi-variable calculus with top marks in my class. My passion for maths remains strong, and I stay engaged with the latest developments through Imperial’s biomathematics group and modules in my own course. I aim to share this enthusiasm with my students, using an engaging, inspiration-based approach that focuses on building a deep understanding of concepts. Whether you’re looking to boost your confidence in maths, get help with homework or coursework, or tackle advanced topics, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

I take a deep understanding based approach to mathematics, teaching concepts and critical thinking so students can approach ANY problem, whether or not they've seen it before.
While I approach each student's teaching based on their individual needs, all of my teaching strategies are problem-based to facilitate student engagement. A typical session is one hour of one on one tutoring (online or in person) in which I work through a problem set with the tutee. This can be a school problem set they are struggling with, example problems from class that they didn't understand, or problems that I have formulated to specifically target the student's needs. I also weave in small lessons on areas that students may not fully understand. Practice problems then reinforce these lessons and provide a prompt for clarifying questions from students in order to sharpen their understanding.
Over 5 years of tutoring experience have allowed me to focus this method and make it as effective as possible. I have comprehensive knowledge of calculus, algebra, statistics, and geometry. Through our sessions, I am able to pinpoint student's weaknesses and understand their learning style. In doing so, I am able to create effective and engaging lesson plans that focus on growth areas.

Lillian helped me exceed my SAT goal in a short amount of time. She came with extra examples for any topic I struggled in and was super patient
Lily is a thoughtful and engaging tutor for my 13 year old son on math. She is observant and thinks of effective ways to challenge my son, who tends to rush through his work. We greatly appreciate Lily's help!
I truly could not recommended Lily more highly. Lily started working with our son at the beginning of his freshman year for his Geometry Honors class. While he has always been a pretty strong math student, he had a teacher who was uninspiring and non communicative, leaving our son relatively disinterested in trying to understand the material. According to him, anything that he learned the first half of the year was due to Lily! She is so knowledgeable and patient and makes the subject matter interesting and, dare I say, fun. She is very conscientious and is always willing to jump on a call if he needs some last minute help on a particular project. As far as her personality and demeanor are concerned-Lily is kind, quick to laugh, and extremely positive, an absolute delight. I only wish she had been around when I took high school Geometry!
Lillian has a great hold on mathematical concepts that she conveys clearly to her students through practice problems and explanations. She does a great job of locating weak points in current understanding and targeting those through practice, as well as explaining new ideas with a conceptual basis as to further complex understanding.
