About Amy

My passion for Mathematics developed from a deep appreciation for logical thinking and structured problem-solving. This led me to complete an M.Ed in Mathematical Instruction, where I combined mathematical depth with effective teaching methodologies. Over 12 years of experience, I have supported students across a wide range of abilities, from foundational elementary school math to SAT math preparation and introductory Calculus, helping them build clarity and confidence step by step. I approach teaching with patience and attentiveness. I carefully observe how students process information, then adapt explanations using visual models, real-world examples, and incremental practice. I encourage questions and emphasize that mistakes are valuable learning tools. This supportive approach allows learners to overcome anxiety and develop confidence in their mathematical thinking. Beyond teaching, I remain actively engaged in curriculum development and educational research. Teaching mathematics is deeply meaningful to me because I consistently witness students transform their mindset. Helping learners recognize their ability to think logically and solve problems independently is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.

About the lesson

Mathematics becomes far less intimidating when students understand how ideas connect rather than memorizing isolated formulas. My lessons incorporate elementary school math, middle school math, geometry, algebra, SAT math, and Calculus, all taught through structured reasoning and conceptual explanation. I focus on helping learners recognize patterns, understand relationships between numbers, and approach problems with clarity and confidence. Lessons emphasize step-by-step thinking, visual reasoning, and guided practice to strengthen comprehension and independence.

Lesson structure varies according to the learner’s level. Elementary school math students build strong number sense, arithmetic fluency, and problem interpretation skills. Middle school math learners develop confidence in geometry concepts, algebraic reasoning, and proportional thinking. Advanced students focus on algebraic manipulation, SAT math strategies, and introductory Calculus concepts, with emphasis on accuracy, logical flow, and exam readiness. Regular practice problems and reflective discussions help reinforce understanding and reduce anxiety.

Mathematics lessons also build perseverance, focus, and disciplined thinking. As learners grow more confident, they become willing to tackle challenging problems independently. Many students begin to see mathematics as structured and learnable rather than overwhelming. My goal is to help students trust their reasoning, approach challenges calmly, and develop lasting confidence that benefits them across all academic areas.
