I attended an Early College High School and I graduated May of 2017.
I also attended Midland College while I attended high school and received my associates degree in May of 2017.
The math classes I completed in high school and college are: Geometry, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and College Algebra.
When I have a new student, I take some time to learn what it is the student knows and what it is that they are having trouble with. Once I discover what they are experiencing difficulties with, I then find a pace that suits them. I have no problems with teaching students with in-depth, step-by-step lessons, or guiding them through the process. I feel that repetition is the best method - the more a student works with a problem, the easier it will be for them to memorize the process and rules associated with the problem.
I worked at the Midland College Math Lab from October of 2016 to May of 2018 and taught students in college and in grades 7-12.
While employed at the Math Lab, I worked four different positions:
-Test Monitor: I was in charge of handing out tests and test materials to college students, ensuring that each student has a form of identification, sets their belongings at the front, and does not give or receive help from other students during testing
-Math Tutor: I walked the floor checking on students and establishing my complete availability and support
-Math Mentor: I volunteered for the Math Mentor Program in which I was paired with several students grades 7-12 and scheduled hour long sessions to work with them throughout the week
-Student Instructor: I worked under a college instructor and provided her students with assistance with homework assignments, projects, and quiz/ test reviews in and out of class
When I moved to Lubbock this year, I began working at Lighthouse College Tutoring in June of 2018 and I have worked with several college students during scheduled sessions.
I have seen significant improvement in the students I have worked with, many of them increasing their overall class averages from C's and D's to A's and B's.
I do my best to ensure that I go at the right pace for each student I work with and that they are getting the most out of our sessions.

Devanne is a very effective and kind math tutor. She tutored my daughter for two years in high school math. She did an excellent job explaining the processes in language that my daughter could understand. I highly recommend Devanne. Angela
Devanne tutored my daughter through the Midland College Math
Program and did a great job. My daughter always looked forward to her sessions with Devanne, because as my daughter said, “she just explains it to me in a way I can understand it”. She was always patient, kind and worked with my daughter until she understood whatever it was they were working on. Highly recommend her.
