About Tess
With nearly a decade of teaching experience, I’ve guided hundreds of learners who once struggled with numbers to find clarity and even enjoyment in Mathematics. My approach combines empathy, structure, and creativity, ensuring that every learner feels capable of mastering the subject. I use storytelling, real-life analogies, and guided reasoning to simplify challenging topics. For instance, I compare functions to “mathematical machines” or teach trigonometry through architectural design examples. This turns abstract formulae into relatable, visual concepts that stick. My ultimate goal is to shift how students perceive Mathematics—from a subject of fear to one of fascination. I want them to realise that Maths isn’t just about finding the right answer; it’s about understanding patterns, problem-solving with logic, and thinking with precision in everyday life.

Mathematics is more than numbers—it’s a structured way of thinking. My lessons start by understanding each student’s learning style and addressing their conceptual gaps. We build a strong foundation before moving to advanced areas like calculus, algebraic proofs, or probability theory. Each session involves practical examples, from analysing geometric patterns in nature to calculating rates in daily life scenarios. I use visual representations such as graphs, mind maps, and colour-coded breakdowns to make abstract equations intuitive and approachable. Problem-solving is a central part of my teaching. Students learn multiple methods for the same problem, discovering efficiency and creativity in mathematical reasoning. Discussions on why formulae work help them develop deeper comprehension rather than relying on memorisation. By the end of every lesson series, learners achieve not only improved academic performance but also transferable analytical skills—enabling them to approach any challenge with structured, logical thought.
