About Sophie
My name is Sophie, and I am going into my senior year as a mathematics undergraduate at UT Austin. I am passionate about mathematics and helping students build confidence and understanding in the subject.
I have experience both as a private tutor and as a supplemental instructor in undergraduate mathematics courses, which has allowed me to develop my teaching skills. I help my students build long-term understanding in mathematics, and confidence moving forward through difficult courses.

If you are looking for help with math, you have come to the right place! Math is a notoriously difficult subject that leaves many students feeling frustrated, which is why my tutoring sessions focus on building student confidence alongside skills and understanding.
My lessons are collaborative and adaptable to accommodate the needs of my students. I match students where they are, and work with them to find a solution. I make my tutoring sessions enjoyable with fun examples that apply to real-world situations.
I begin lessons by assessing the student's level of understanding with the subject material so that I can tailor the material to the student's specific needs. I focus not only on mastering solution methods, but also how to approach unfamiliar problems. I believe that the most important skill in mathematics is learning how to think through a new problem, rather than memorizing steps.
I teach lessons for a variety of levels, including middle school, high school, and college. I can help both with course work and with standardized testing preparation.
