I am currently a University student studying Maths and Economics. I used to tutor GCSE students before when I was doing my A levels specifically with students who found it challenging to understand certain concepts needed to pass the GCSE.

I think to start with it’s good to gauge what a student does know instead of what they don’t know. You can then begin to build of that knowledge and extend that into further concepts. This way they may be more confident about their own ability, enough so to start figuring through things more independently! I think it is good to systematically get through the content by using lots of visual techniques so that students can picture an outcome or a method.
