About Mia

I am a patient and communicative individual, and I integrate my passion for approachable learning and confidence building into my tutoring. I believe that in order for a child to excel in their academic work, they must feel confidence and motivation within - something which I aim to encourage within my sessions. I am a student at Cardiff University studying psychology with professional placement. I am currently on placement with the Family Intervention Team with Action for Children offering psychologically-informed intervention to young people and their families. I believe that adolescence and childhood is such a vital time for a child and their development later in life, and so being able to understand how to work and to improve areas of concern are hugely important during this time.

About the lesson

My lessons are for students studying psychology at GCSE or A-Level standard and looking for help on basic level psychology. I am also able to offer Maths at primary school level, as maths is integrated throughout my degree and I have excelled in maths throughout my life. Lessons are flexible and can be suited to the child's preferences. We can accommodate the work to how the child finds easiest to learn, and I encourage each student to break complex theories and ideas into smaller pieces to be better understood. Drawing and work with diagrams/mind maps are popular with me. Achieving an A in psychology A-level and A* Maths GCSE, I fit these subjects well and can provide students with an affordable academic push in the areas they feel needs work. I prefer tutor sessions online, but I can travel to the home if this is preferred. My first session of 30 minutes (free) I like to get to know the child, what are their interests, what they aim to work on and how we can work together to achieve the goals they are hoping for.
