About Federica

INTRODUCTION

I am a scientist with a M.Sc. in Molecular and Medical Biotechnology (a degree taught entirely in English at the University of Verona) and a professor with experience teaching in middle schools, where I have enthusiastically and successfully tutored first, second, and third graders. I have also been working as a private tutor for several years, teaching English to both children and adults.

I firmly believe that there are no "difficult" subjects or "bad" students: the positive feedback from my students at school has shown me that the key is finding the right method and instilling enthusiasm and passion. My goal is to create a calm, stimulating, and non-judgmental environment where every student can overcome their difficulties and regain full confidence in their abilities.

TEACHING METHOD
My goal is not to mechanically memorize formulas or rules, but to teach independent and critical study. Having a solid academic background (Master's Degree LM9), I apply a scientific approach to teaching: I break down complex concepts into simple, logical steps. For Mathematics and Science: I use the inductive method. We start with a practical example or a real-world problem to arrive at an understanding of the theoretical rule or formula. For English: I focus heavily on communication and the logic of the language, combining grammar with exercises in conversation, listening, and reading challenging texts.

SCHEME OF A TYPICAL LESSON
Each lesson is tailored to the moment, but it is ideally divided into three phases:
1. First 10-15 minutes: warm-up and review. We take stock of the situation and address any doubts regarding the homework completed or the previous lesson.
2. Middle block (30-35 minutes): explanation of the new topic using diagrams, concept maps, or shareable virtual whiteboards (for online lessons). Immediately afterward, we move on to guided practice with targeted exercises.
3. Last 5-10 minutes: debriefing. The student summarizes in their own words what they learned during the lesson, to consolidate the concepts and plan independent work to be done at home.

SPECIFICS
- Mind maps and logical flows: I help students create personalized diagrams, especially useful for memorizing science syllabi or the structure of English verb tenses.
- Adaptability (also for DSA/SEN): I structure lessons according to the student's attention span, using visual tools and remedial and compensatory strategies for those with learning disabilities.
- Effective online lessons: In remote connections, I use interactive digital tools to ensure the lesson is dynamic and participatory, just as if we were in the same room.

WHO ARE THE LESSONS FOR?
Math and Science: elementary, middle, and high school students.
English: children, students in compulsory education (for debt recovery, homework help, or improvement), and adults who want to improve their level and/or pronunciation for personal or professional purposes (basic/intermediate conversation and grammar).

FURTHER DETAILS: My English and/or Maths and Science lessons are held in person (in Udine) or remotely (ideally via Google Meet).
