About Alawi
I'm a civil engineering graduate from the University of Salford, currently working in engineering project management. I started my career in railway civil engineering before progressing into project management roles across the engineering sector. Maths has been a practical tool throughout — I use it to solve real problems, which means I can show students that what they're learning genuinely matters beyond the exam.
I'm patient, direct, and focused on building confidence alongside ability. Whether you're struggling with the basics or pushing for a top grade, I'll work at your pace and make sure you're ready.

My lessons are structured but relaxed. I start by identifying exactly where the gaps are, then work through concepts step by step before applying them to practice questions. Every student is different, so I tailor each session to what you actually need rather than following a fixed script.
For younger students or those earlier in their GCSE journey, I focus on building solid foundations first, making sure the core concepts are genuinely understood before moving on. There's no point rushing ahead if the basics aren't there yet. For students in Year 10 and 11 who are approaching exams, the focus shifts to past papers, exam technique, and making sure you're picking up marks efficiently under timed conditions.
I'm a civil engineering graduate working as a project manager and maths has been a practical tool throughout my career - not just something I studied and left behind. I use it to solve real problems, which means I can show students that what they're learning genuinely matters beyond the exam. That context can make abstract topics feel a lot more relevant.
Sessions are fully online, keeping things flexible and easy to schedule around school and other commitments. I use a shared digital workspace so we can work through problems together in real time, just as you would on paper.
Whether you're falling behind and need to catch up, or already doing okay and want to push for a higher grade, I'll work at your pace and won't move on until you're confident.
