About Sierra
I have loved mathematics since childhood, leading me to earn a B.Sc in Mathematics Education and devote eight years to teaching students across multiple levels. My focus is on fostering understanding, confidence, and curiosity in learners. I enjoy helping students build strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a supportive and structured environment. Throughout my teaching career, I have guided students through elementary school math, middle school math, algebra, geometry, and SAT math preparation. I adapt lessons to individual learning styles, using visual aids, interactive exercises, and real-life examples. Many students initially feel challenged, but stepwise guidance helps them develop competence, confidence, and enthusiasm for mathematics. Outside teaching, I explore creative problem sets, practical applications, and puzzles to enhance lessons and maintain engagement. I aim to show students how mathematics connects to science, technology, and everyday life. Each session is approached with patience, encouragement, and professionalism, helping learners grow academically and personally while developing a lasting appreciation for mathematics.

My Maths lessons begin with elementary school math, including foundational topics like number operations, fractions, and basic problem-solving strategies. I focus on building conceptual understanding and confidence, using visual aids, examples, and guided practice. Students learn to see patterns, apply logic, and develop curiosity for numbers and relationships.
As learners advance into middle school math, we cover expressions, equations, ratios, coordinate grids, and geometry. Stepwise exercises and structured guidance help students strengthen analytical skills and reasoning abilities. I emphasize understanding principles rather than rote memorization, preparing learners for higher-level algebra, complex geometry problems, and standardized tests like SAT math.
For advanced learners or exam preparation, lessons include algebra, advanced geometry, word problems, and SAT math strategies. Students practice multi-step problems, recognize patterns, and apply formulas efficiently. Timed exercises and problem-solving strategies reinforce mastery, building both competence and confidence. My aim is for learners to excel academically while acquiring practical skills for real-world applications.
