About Jay
Currently on a gap year with unconditional offers to study Maths at Warwick and Imperial. I sat A-Levels in 2025, achieving A* in Maths and Further Maths and A in Physics and Computer Science. I achieved 7.9 in the TMUA and I am very familiar with STEP.
I am passionate about helping other students succeed in Maths. Having taken GCSE and A-Level exams recently myself, I am very familiar with current exam styles and the areas where students often struggle.
I have undertaken Maths tutor training and tutor students privately and at a Maths study centre. I also volunteer at my previous school as a maths mentor for year 12 and 13 students. I have a current DBS and safeguarding certificate.
Outside of Maths, I am a keen musician and drummer, I have interests in the arts and enjoy fitness.

I aim to make maths feel logical and approachable. My goal is to help students genuinely understand the concepts behind the methods they use so they can confidently apply them in their studies, and exams.
Typically, lessons are structured and personalised around a student's weaker topics. In a lesson we will break down questions together to build understanding. Once a concept is understood, we will practise to build confidence and improve exam technique.
My lessons are primarily for GCSE and A-Level maths students who want to improve their understanding and performance. I’m happy to help with anything from learning core concepts to working through difficult homework or preparing for upcoming exams.
Lessons are around 60 minutes, but this can be adapted to suit individual student needs.
I appreciate every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual. I am patient, approachable, and always encourage questions, ensuring students feel comfortable and supported throughout the learning process.
I come to each lesson prepared with carefully chosen practice questions, based on previous lessons with the student. My focus is not only on improving grades, but also on building confidence and helping develop a deeper understanding of maths.
I offer a no obligation free 60 minute introductory session for new students so they can meet me and see if my style and approach is the right fit for them.
