About Elena
Studying psychology has given me a broad knowledge of child development, the development of language and mental processes and the emotional development of a child and I strongly believe, it is a teacher’s job to encourage pupils’ curiosity.
My job as an educator is to help them to determine their own strengths and weaknesses; encouraging self-reflection helps them to feel in charge of creating their own goals.

I think teaching mathematics should not be limited by the four walls of the classroom; and should show pupils that mathematics is everywhere in our environment, which can be encouraged through cross-curricular activities. I believe that providing pupils with carefully designed learning activities, relevant to their knowledge of a subject, helps them to link them to their real-life experiences and gives them the chance to practice skills of enquiry and problem solving in everyday situations.
In my experience, it needs much more than well planned lessons and the latest materials to get pupils excited about the learning to be willing to work hard if they are not motivated. Sharing my enthusiasm about my subject, showing pupils how I am excited about teaching, giving praise when earned, is one of the best ways to motivate pupils to learn.
