About Jack

I love tutoring because it's incredibly rewarding to see my students progress, gain a deeper understanding of complex mathematical concepts, develop their problem-solving skills and confidence, and achieve their academic goals.

And, of course, I love sharing my passion for maths and inspiring others to appreciate it as well.

My approach varies depending on what works best for each student, but generally involves working through questions and solutions with students, asking clarifying questions to help them understand, and tailoring our sessions to their specific needs and learning style. Lessons are structured around the work that students want to focus on. Keeping a notebook solely for tutoring is highly recommended!

Finally, success in tutoring is a collaborative effort between the student and the tutor. If students are motivated to learn and put in the effort, they will see the results they desire.

About the lesson

Hello! I’m Jack and I love Maths!

My tutoring team and I study Maths and Physics at ANU. We have a passion for Maths and Physics and have been tutoring students at various levels up to elite “Extension 2”, in ACT, NSW, and Victoria, for several years.

Year 11 or 12? We can help you achieve your SSC/IB/HSC/ATAR goals for University entry.
Year 9 or 10? We can help you onto the right path for SSC/IB/HSC/ATAR success.

How does it work?

We offer one-on-one tutoring, tailored to your individual needs.

Most students prefer 60 minute online zoom sessions, once per week.

We’ve found that sticking to a regular timeslot for each week of a school term is the best way to succeed. Our availability is very flexible, with both weekdays and weekends possible.

Between your weekly sessions, we can assign additional work - from my library of best exam questions - if you want, it’s your choice.

Some students continue through the school holidays, others take a well deserved break to recharge before the next school term. We are happy to support either approach.

As team leader I will personally be involved in planning your tutoring, and based on your needs I will tutor you myself, or allocate you to the tutor who can best help. I am also available to discuss your needs and progress with your parents.

Online or in-person tutoring?

We’re a big fan of online tutoring, so most sessions would normally take place on zoom. It's an easy and efficient way to connect, and it allows us to work together no matter where we are. If you prefer in-person sessions that is ok as well, however, ALL in-person sessions must take place on the ANU campus for safety reasons. There are several libraries located on the ANU campus (with booked rooms available) that are great for in-person tutoring. We are exploring other venues and would welcome your suggestions.
