About Lina

Hello! I'm Lina, and I'm excited to help you achieve your academic goals. I am an undergraduate student studying Maths with Stats at KCL and studied Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Spanish at A-level. I know what it's like to feel like you may be falling behind and are not really getting grips of a subject, and I also know exactly what it takes to turn it around and achieve excellent grades. I am very passionate about helping others so if you feel I could be a good fit for you, don't hesitate to contact! I was also an LSE Economics offer holder before deciding Maths was more suited to me, so can also help with uni applications! You can trust me to provide a professional, supportive, and encouraging environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and learning at your own pace. I am committed to helping you succeed so let's work together to achieve your best!

About the lesson

I believe every student has a unique learning style and pace so I tailor my lessons to fit each student's needs, focusing on areas where they need the most help. This individualised approach ensures that each student can progress at their own pace and build on their strengths. For subjects like Maths, understanding the core concepts is crucial. I use a step-by-step approach to break down complex topics into manageable parts, ensuring that the student grasps the foundational principles before moving on to more advanced material. I use a variety of teaching methods to keep the lessons engaging, such as interactive problem-solving and quizzes to maintain interest and encourage students to participate actively in their learning process. A typical lesson lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's needs and the subject matter. For younger students or those at the GCSE level, I usually recommend 60-minute sessions to maintain focus and engagement. For A-Level students or those tackling more challenging topics, 90-minute sessions allow for more in-depth exploration and practice. I achieved all 9s at GCSE with the exception of an 8 in English Language so feel confident in my ability to teach students to do the same! Also achieved an A* in Maths A-level with 91% and an A in Further Maths A-level (only 1% off an A*). Perfect! Lina is not only an excellent maths tutor, she is also so friendly and upbeat that my daughter actually looks forward to her weekly tutoring sessions! She is in her GCSE year and had been feeling under so much pressure, without a clear idea about how to approach revision in order to be efficient but also avoid feeling overwhelmed. Lina immediately put her at ease by helping her to understand that her feelings were completely normal, and then put together a plan to work on each of the topics on the three higher maths GCSE papers in a logical and connected way. Lina has a colour-coded system for helping my daughter recognize how much she already knows, what she needs to work on more to understand better, and then also what she doesn't quite know yet. My daughter's confidence in maths has increased so much, and she ended up doing much better on her GCSE mocks than she expected, which was a hugely important validation of her efforts and work with Lina. We will continue working with Lina in the new year once the next round of mocks comes around, and then also leading up to the official GCSE exams. We are so happy we found Lina and I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone!
