About Matt
I am a violin, viola and music theory teacher available to teach all ages and abilities teaching both in person and online. I freelance regularly with many of the UK's leading orchestras including London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I began learning violin and piano aged 6 through my local music service. I am a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where I received a Masters in Viola Performance with Distinction. I held a Junior Fellowship for 21/22 at the school.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching violin privately for several years and have been involved in many education and outreach projects during the last few years. These include Wandsworth Music Service, Southbank Sinfonia, LSO Discovery and the ARCO project at Birmingham Conservatoire.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS Certificate?
Yes I have an enhanced DBS check.

Whether you’re a complete beginner, playing for pleasure or studying seriously; I would be excited to work with you. I believe very much in tailoring my approach to each student to allow them to really enjoy and get the most out of the lessons .
- Where do you teach?
I teach Online, Face to face at my home in Birmingham or can travel to the students home depending on their preference.
- When are you available?
My availability is flexible especially for online lessons both during the day and in the evening.
