About Aria

I want to empower my students to succeed by developing course content and practice evaluations that will be engaging, informative, and rewarding. Since receiving my BSc ('21), I have tutored students at the undergraduate level across subjects in the basic sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, etc.). During my MSc studies, I had the opportunity to TA over ~750 students in psychology, computer science, and statistics courses; what I took away is that my lessons were most effective when (1) students were engaged in the subject matter, and (2) when lessons were interactive and adaptive to the student's current level. Those principles are the backbone of my tutoring philosophy. I'm here to meet you where you're at, and help you develop the skills you need to realize *your* goals on test day.

About the lesson

Hi folks! My name is Aria, thanks for opening my listing :)

My teaching philosophy revolves around meeting you where you are at in the study process, whether you've got 3 weeks or 3 months until test day, or even if you're still trying to decide when the right time is for you. Whatever the timeline, my goal is to bring you a plan that will fit in your timeline, and provide you with meaningful new understandings or tools each session that will improve your performance on test day.

Any time I work with a new student, I start with a free, 30-minute phone/ video call (e.g., Zoom) to assess your needs and see if we'd be a good fit. If we move forward after that call, the next step is to work together to build an effective study plan targeting a test date or a goal timeline (e.g., score achievement in C/P by Date X, if no test date is scheduled). Then typically, I proceed in 1:1 tutoring sessions in hour blocks (rate: $50/ hour).

Whether you're a student coming straight out of a BSc, non-science degree, or you're a non-traditional applicant studying for the MCAT after an academic hiatus, I really do believe there's an ideal way to target the knowledge or skills you want to develop, and every student is equally capable. Sometimes it just takes a while to find that magic formula, but it exists for everyone and one of my favourite parts of tutoring is finding that path. Thanks for reading!
