About Alex
I’m half Mexican, half Russian, and grew up in Chicago and Austria, so navigating different cultures and perspectives has always been a natural part of my life. That global background shaped the way I communicate, teach, and connect with people from all kinds of environments. My passion for teaching began in Shanghai, where I volunteered as a chess tutor. Watching students grow, gain confidence, and sharpen their thinking in real time made me realize how meaningful education can be. Since then, helping others learn has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. Today, I also teach martial arts to children, another deep passion of mine. I love the blend of discipline, movement, focus, and fun, and I bring that same energy to all the subjects I teach. Whether it’s academic content, problem-solving, or mindset work, I try to meet students where they are and help them take the next step forward.

As a tutor, my approach is built on clarity, patience, and a strong belief in the power of a growth mindset. I’ve lived in five different countries and have worked with a wide range of students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. This experience has shaped my teaching style into one that is flexible, empathetic, and highly adaptable to each learner.
I start by identifying a student’s strengths, gaps, and preferred learning style. From there, I design lessons that build confidence while gradually introducing more challenging material. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, encouraged, and understood, so I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, digestible parts while keeping the learning environment positive and pressure-free.
