About Nathalie

Learning a language is more than memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules. I believe it should feel alive, relevant, and even fun. That's the energy I bring to every lesson.
Beyond my academic background, I'm an active Chinese fanfiction writer, which means my relationship with Mandarin goes well beyond the classroom. I use the language to tell stories, build worlds, and connect with communities online. This keeps my teaching grounded in how the language is actually lived and used, not just how it appears in textbooks.
I'm naturally curious, genuinely care about my students' progress, and have a knack for making complex ideas feel approachable. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, you'll find my lessons engaging, encouraging, and tailored to you.

About the lesson

My teaching style is student-centered and adaptive. Rather than following a rigid script, I build each lesson around the learner's pace, interests, and goals, using textbooks and structured materials as a foundation while expanding beyond them to spark curiosity and deeper understanding.
I place a strong emphasis on active engagement and critical thinking. Whether we're practicing conversation, working through a reading passage, or preparing for HSK, I encourage students to make connections between concepts rather than memorize in isolation.
For exam-focused learners, I bring a more structured approach, breaking down question types, identifying patterns, and building reliable problem-solving strategies for reading comprehension and grammar.
My lessons are suitable for adult conversational learners at any level, students preparing for HSK exams, and young beginners building their first foundation in Mandarin. I draw on classroom teaching experience with young learners as well as one-on-one tutoring with heritage language students.
