About David
Hi, I'm David. I am a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo. I teach high school students math and physics. Believe it or not, I know what it is like to struggle with math and physics concepts. In high school, I was the top of my class in these subjects. In university, there were times when I was worried whether or not I would pass my exam. I share this because I have been on both ends of the spectrum of succeeding and struggling. These experiences have allowed me to connect with students regardless of their level and provide them with the individual help they need. I know what it takes to be at the top in these subjects, and I also know the overwhelming feeling that happens when you don't understand something the day before the test. With me, you are getting someone who knows the subject matter and someone who knows how to help students at every level of proficiency. I am here to help with homework, study habits and planning, labs, and conceptual understanding.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing and watching hockey. I also love spending time outdoors, hiking, boating, swimming, and water skiing. I play card games, board games, and video games. I enjoy watching Star Wars, especially the animated shows. Finally, I have been studying nuclear power systems because I have a passion for helping reduce the negative effects of climate change through sustainable, green energy sources. When we meet, I'd love to hear what you are passionate about. I enjoy teaching math and physics, but I also like to connect with my students and hear them talk about what they enjoy and what their goals are!

If you are a high school student who needs help with math or physics, I am here to help! With my background in Mechanical Engineering, I know what it takes to learn math and physics concepts, and I am able to tie them back to real-world applications such as engineering.
I explain concepts and ask my students questions to get them to start thinking more deeply about the subjects they are learning. When it comes to math and physics, understanding the concepts through logic and reasoning is fundamental. I specialize in homework help, conceptual understanding, and study habits and planning.
I adapt my approach given my students' needs. With experience from teaching over 800 first-year engineering students to 1-on-1 tutoring, I have taught many students from many different backgrounds. This experience allows me to guide lessons in the best direction for each individual.
