About Rika
I am a mechanical engineering student in U1 at McGill University. I started tutoring math and science courses in grade 10 for students in my grade. After that I continued to tutor students in grade 11 for math, physics and chemistry. I studied Honors Pure & Applied Science at Marianopolis College and tutored Calculus 1 there. This summer, I had a tutoring job on CEGEP General Chemistry 2. For high school grades, my average for all math and science classes is around 97. For CEGEP grade, I got 97 in enriched Calculus 1,Chemistry 1 and enriched Linear Algebra; 96 in enriched Mechanics, enriched Calculus 2 and Chemistry 2; 99 in Calculus 3. For math 262 at Mcgill, I got a GPA of 4.0.

As a tutor, I usually ask tutees for the topics that they want to review or preview for the course and I will introduce concepts on that topic and then we do some typical problems together. Then I will let the tutee to solve some problem on her/his own and I will see if he/she gets the key points. I am also always happy to answer questions and my tutoring mode can also be changed depending on what the tutee wants. I think the most important thing is to understand concepts and know how to apply them for problem-solving but not to memorize methods to solve problems.
