About Abdi
I am a Mechanical Engineering Graduate with an innate passion for helping others understand concepts that they find difficult.
During my university years, I volunteered with the Alberta Immigrant Women and Children Centre (AIWCC, formerly known as the SCWCA) as a tutor for high school, middle school, and elementary students. I also previously volunteered with the Somali Canadian Cultural Society of Edmonton as a tutor for their after-school program. I managed to do all of this while handling a 6-course workload and a part-time job at Walmart.
I won't say learning is easy. We all have things we struggle with, but I can promise you that I will try my best to make sure you leave my lesson with a better understanding of concepts than before you entered the lesson.

Whenever I’m tutoring/teaching anyone, the first thing I do is observe how they understand certain concepts or take in information. For example, if a student learns more through example than by explanations of the concept, I try to incorporate that into my teaching. I use this method and it has proven to be effective for many of my students.
I also try to give students some insight, showing them how these concepts occur in real life to enrich their learning experience. This allows them to not only understand but also connect concepts with real-life situations. This allows students to cement their understanding of a concept.
