About Griffin
I'm an incoming PhD student at the University of California, Berkeley where my research will focus on computational thermomechanics -- basically simulating heat shields for rockets during atmospheric reentry.
I tutor advanced subjects in math, physics, and mechanical engineering, and my teaching experience includes 1-on-1 tutoring, working as a teaching assistant in undergrad, and guest lecturing for graduate-level engineering seminars. I also spent two summer internships working as a crash structures engineer at Tesla, using these exact skills to improve vehicle safety.
In my spare time right now, I'm learning differential geometry for elastic shell theory, C++ through assorted simulation projects, and Muay Thai for fun! If you're looking for a long-term tutor who will help you master your subjects through mathematical rigor and a strong intuition, please contact me to book a lesson.

I believe that the best value I can provide as a tutor is teaching you the skills of learning, not just lecturing from a textbook. I'm happy to clarify concepts and point you to extra learning resources, but most of my tutoring approach involves working side-by-side with you to solve problems. This is where I can catch gaps in your process, coach your problem-solving method, and provide step-by-step worked examples. I will show you how to set up a problem, identify the parameters you'll need to find and relationships you'll need to use, and break down how each step fits into the solution.
I welcome students anywhere from advanced high school through graduate students, but I will be a particularly great fit for engineering students and anyone who is motivated to learn above and beyond the classroom to achieve total subject mastery!
