About Louis
I am currently studying mechanical engineering in first year at the University of Exeter. The reason I took this course is that my biggest hobby is tinkering. I have a passion for building things and have built many things such as a motorcycle, car powered by a boat engine, many smaller electronics projects such as a spark gap Tesla coil (wireless energy transmission), electric skateboard, as well as dozens of other projects. I also built a passion for coding, I have learned multiple coding languages including: Python, HTML, CSS, Java and C++. I have also obtained a Python proficiency certification. Some of my other hobbies are hiking, I'm slowly shifting towards mountaineering, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and climbing.

I was tutored regularly at GCSE level which helped me learn what works best (I had many different tutors). Patching together the techniques that worked best on me, I applied this knowledge and tutored GCSE level students for 2 years, helping them significantly improve their learning rate. My technique works best for physics but also works very well on all maths-related courses. The way I teach is by teaching the student appropriate note-taking techniques (I split it into 3 steps) then teaching the content in a manner that aligns with that technique. The typical length of a lesson would be 1 hour, with the first 30 min being introduction and summary of the topic, then the other 30 minutes split into rough practice and clean practice. The lessons mostly target students at GCSE level or Year 12 A level / IB. I took the International Baccalaureate with Physics, Maths Analysis and Interpretation, German B being my higher levels. I am also fluent in French and would be comfortable teaching GCSE level French on request.
