About Shafia
I know how important it is to find the right tutor, and I really aim to create a space where students feel supported and actually confident in what they can do. Being a Mechanical Engineering student at U of T, I’ve definitely seen how tough math and science can get, but I’ve also learned the specific strategies you need to actually get through it.
Outside of my own classes, I’ve spent a lot of time working with students in leadership and tutoring roles, like running a math club and working with BrightSparkz. Those roles really taught me how to be patient and, more importantly, how to pivot my explanations when something isn't clicking. I truly believe everyone learns differently, so I make sure my lessons are organized and tailored to whatever style works best for the student.
I’m big on being professional and reliable. I show up prepared, keep the lines of communication open with both students and parents, and make sure our sessions are always respectful and encouraging. For me, it’s not just about bumping up a grade for one test; it’s about building that long-term confidence and the kind of problem-solving skills that stay with you.
I totally get that trusting someone with your education is a big deal, and I’m fully committed to making sure every single session we have is productive and worth your time.

To be honest, science and math can feel totally overwhelming sometimes. I remember being in high school and really struggling with my STEM courses myself, so I definitely know what it feels like to feel stuck or like you're losing your confidence. It took a lot of hard work, shifting my study strategies, and getting some solid support from teachers to turn things around, which eventually led me to pursuing Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto.
That journey is a huge reason why I got into tutoring in the first place. I want students to realize that hitting a wall with a subject doesn't mean you aren't capable of succeeding, sometimes, you just need someone to explain things in a way that actually clicks for your specific brain.
In my sessions, I really focus on keeping things relaxed so you feel comfortable asking literally anything and moving at whatever pace works for you. Whether you’re trying to boost your grades, prep for a big test, or just want to feel less lost in class, I'd love to help you get where you want to be!
