My Teaching Mission:
The skills learnt in Maths and Physics are an amazing tool for problem-solving, and as someone who loves logic, I am always enthusiastic to share these subjects with others!
Why a Student Might Be Struggling:
Mathematics-based subjects can be complex and challenging at times, even for those who have a natural affinity for them. I can truly relate to any student's situation—I have experienced both ends of the grade scale, so I can definitely say my own journey to strong grades was not without its hurdles.
From this, I know STEM subjects take thorough understanding and solid foundational knowledge. My advice is to always go back to the basics, build up from there, and then get lots of practice! This is by far the most efficient way to build confidence in STEM, and believing in yourself is so much more important than you would think!
Lesson Structure:
For this reason, I structure lessons around foundational skills in any area the student is unsure about, then expand their knowledge at their own pace. Moving on without fully understanding the current content only causes the next step to feel impossible.
Finally, I encourage as many questions as possible—asking questions is the key part of learning, and it's what your tutor is there for, so be curious!
