About Zia

Hi! I’m a medical student at Newcastle University, currently taking a year out to study for an MSc in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research in London. I’ve completed four years of medical school, and I’m passionate about science, education, and helping students reach their full potential. I achieved Grade 8s in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry at GCSE, and an IB score of 40, including HL Biology (7), HL Chemistry (6), SL Mathematics (6).

I began tutoring because I love breaking down complex topics and watching students grow in confidence and independence. Having gone through GCSEs, the IB, and the medical school application process myself, I understand the pressure and know how to support students effectively through each stage.

As the eldest of four siblings, with three younger brothers and sisters aged 11, 7, and 4, I’ve spent a lot of time helping with schoolwork and explaining things clearly and patiently. This has shaped how I tutor: with warmth, encouragement, and flexibility to suit different ages and learning styles.

Outside of academics, I enjoy running, playing the piano, cooking and baking, I find that a balanced, creative life helps keep learning fun and engaging.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is personalised, supportive, and results-focused. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths and areas for improvement, then tailor lessons to suit their individual learning style, whether that’s visual, auditory, or hands-on.

I firmly believe that real-life practice is the best way to see results, so sessions will focus on exam-style questions and active learning techniques. This helps students develop strong exam skills, reinforce their knowledge, and feel confident in their progress.

I use a mix of clear explanations, active recall, spaced repetition, and targeted question practice to help students build deep understanding and long-term retention.

I offer tutoring in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, GCSE Science, and Psychology across Primary, Secondary, GCSE, and IB levels. Additionally, I provide specialised support for medical school applicants, including UCAT preparation, personal statement guidance, and interview coaching to help you confidently navigate the application process.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes, but I’m flexible depending on what works best for each student.

I tutor students aged 10–18 across Primary, Secondary, GCSE, and IB, and also support medical school applicants with UCAT preparation, personal statement guidance, and interview coaching.
