About Mohona

Hello, I am a third year medical student studying at Imperial College London. I have been tutoring for over 5 years in mathematics, science and medical applications, both one-to-one and as part of institutions/companies. I understand the uneasiness many students face in beginning their medical admissions process which is why I specialise in offering interview preparation, personal statement sessions, NHS current affairs and general admissions guidance.

As well doing individual tutoring sessions, I have worked with various well-known companies specialising in medical courses and tutored students at Oxford International college, so I have the expertise in guiding and preparing students through various parts of the admissions process.

About the lesson

I believe the tips on strengthening medical applications lies in identifying personal weaknesses, showcasing your uniqueness, unlocking your motivation for the subject and practicing speaking about yourself in order to sell your story story on paper and in person.
When it comes to gaining a place at medical school - it's the details that matter!

My structure of teaching initially involves gaining the trust and knowledge of my students and using that to guide the sessions. I am very flexible in helping students in the areas they want to improve in which ultimately drives them to not only improve their applications, but also themselves as a prospective medical student and doctor.

o Cover a wide array of MMI/panel interview topics e.g. current affairs, general knowledge, transferable skills, ethics, work experience, data analysis, role play etc.
o Ease my students into speaking about themselves and their experiences
o Conduct regular mock interviews with feedback sheets
o Track progress through review and consolidation

o Work on planning, structuring and modelling paragraphs
o Ensure the student highlights their best abilities, qualities and skills consistently throughout the statement
o Frequently draft and re-draft statements
o Practice potential interview questions from the statement
o Track progress through feedback sheets

o Offer advice on the admissions process for a variety of universities
o Help students in specialist areas of concern e.g. current affairs, admissions tests, applying to the right medical school
