About Lara
I'm a fourth year medical student at the University of Birmingham. I'm really interested in research and education and am a dedicated tutor.
I'm particularly interested in the areas of oncology, genetics, immunology and infectious diseases - but I'm enthusiastic about engaging students in science at any level.
I can help you enjoy and appreciate science as well as prepare for important exams.

I'm an enthusiastic tutor offering lessons for Biology at GCSE or A-Level or for younger interested students.
I can also offer tutoring and support for people looking to apply to medical school.
Extensive experience working with students with learning disabilities and autism.
My teaching methods are very personalised to the student. I think it's important to encourage exploration around topic areas of interest as well as to provide structure to focus on the curriculum. From studying a very academic medical degree and pursuing my own research interests I am able to support and teach in depth in many areas of human biology. But I also understand the hoops you need to jump through to achieve high grades in GCSEs and A-Level exams and will be able to help students working towards these through extensive focus on the curriculum, practise questions, mark schemes and revision advice.
I create an enthusiastic and open environment to help learning. I'm very adaptable to meet the needs of individual students and create informative resources and materials to aid teaching and revision.
I would suggest a typical lesson length of an hour but can be flexible to individual requirements.
I have several years of experience teaching small groups of University students as well as tutoring A-Level students struggling to reach their potential.
I also have over 4 years of experience working with students with learning disabilities and autism and would be delighted to adapt tutoring to support anybody's needs.
