About Malachy
Hi, I’m Malachy! I’m a second-year medical student at Peninsula Medical School, and I tutor GCSE Maths, Biology and Chemistry, plus AQA A-Level Biology and Chemistry, online.
I sat these exact exams not long ago, so I remember where things get confusing and, more importantly, what actually helped me get past it. At A-Level I achieved A* in Chemistry, A* in Biology, A in Maths and A in French, along with top grades across GCSE science and maths. That took work, and I know the specific sticking points that trip people up along the way.
I love the moment a topic finally clicks. I’m patient, easy to talk to, and I tailor each session to how the student learns.

I structure every lesson around active learning, because students learn far more by doing than by listening. I start with a task or set of questions for the student to attempt independently, which shows me exactly where their understanding is strong and where the gaps are. We then work through it together, and I ask questions throughout so the student stays engaged.
Lessons are one hour, online, for GCSE Maths, Biology and Chemistry and AQA A-Level Biology and Chemistry. Before each session I review what we covered previously and what the student is working on at in school, so lessons stay relevant to their exam board and current topics. I keep track of recurring mistakes and revisit them until they’re solid.
I measure progress by how independently a student can solve problems by the end of a topic, not just whether they can follow along.
