About Anannya

Hi, I’m Anannya, a Math and Calculus tutor currently studying first-year Medicine in Ireland. I graduated last year, so I understand exactly what students need right now to succeed in exams. Alongside tutoring, I have experience teaching swimming and dance, which has helped me become a clear and adaptable teacher. I’ve also worked with students one-on-one in Math, helping them improve their problem-solving skills, understand difficult concepts, and gain confidence. I’ve seen how quickly students can improve once they stop memorizing steps and start actually understanding the logic behind what they’re doing. What makes me different is that I focus on making Math make sense. I break down complex topics, especially in Calculus, into simple steps and patterns so they feel more manageable. I also focus on exam techniques and common question types, so you’re learning how to score higher. My goal is to help you feel more confident with Math, improve consistently, and reach the grades you’re aiming for.

My Approach as a Math and Calculus Tutor:

I help middle school and high school students truly understand Math and Calculus. My goal is for them to feel more confident and earn better grades on school exams. Since everyone learns differently, I tailor my approach to each student. Some students need concepts broken down into tiny steps. Others might just need more practice with exam questions, or help seeing how different ideas connect. I adjust my teaching style to whatever helps you learn most effectively.

Teaching Style:
I focus on helping students truly understand a concept before they apply that knowledge to exam-style questions. I break down topics into simple steps, explaining the logic behind each method. This way, students grasp why something works, not just how to do it. That's especially important in Calculus, where students often find it hard to connect different ideas. I also emphasize problem-solving skills and exam techniques. I show students how to confidently tackle questions they haven't seen before. During lessons, I use short quizzes, quick questions, and regular check-ins. This helps me make sure students are keeping up and grasping the material. We can then spot mistakes early and correct them right away.

A Typical Lesson:
Lessons have a clear structure, but I keep them flexible to suit each student's level and needs. We usually kick off with a quick recap of previous topics, often through a few questions or a mini quiz to check understanding. Next, we move to the main topic. I explain the concept step by step, using clear examples. Then, we practice together with my guidance, so the student can apply what they've learned. Finally, I provide clear feedback and point out specific areas for improvement, offering optional practice if it's helpful.
