About Sina

ABOUT ME: Hi there! I am a medical student at Cambridge University - Robinson College - moving on to my third year to study Bio- and Information Engineering. I have over two years of tutoring experience and seek to teach independent learning in all my sessions. PAST TUTORING EXPERIENCE: * I started tutoring as a volunteer and then a paid worker in year 12 * Having worked one year full-time as an Unqualified Teacher, I have tutored and taught small groups in science and maths at A-level and GCSE stage. * My proudest achievement is teaching a group of 6 students GCSE science for several weeks prior to the start of exams who went on to achieve and exceed their predicted grades. * I have previously collaborated with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) department, and can apply techniques unlocking the full potential of my neurodiverse students. * Having ranked 1st and 2nd for the past two years at Cambridge I am ready to return to the tutoring world and pass on my knowledge. MY MOTIVATION: * I migrated to the UK not knowing English well and joined a supportive Community school in Coventry halfway through year 9. I decided to self-teach myself GCSE maths and took the exam the same year, convincing the school to move me up to year 11 to finish my GCSEs for next year. * In Sixth form I went on to do A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths - with the last one self-teaching myself. Self-study in summer remained my most productive time during my A-levels, and I went on to achieve A* in all subjects. * I understood the most efficient learning strategy is independent learning but unfortunately this is not really taught in the current education system. * This is my motivation and remains the theme of my lessons. Ironically, I'd like to tutor you so that one day you would no longer need tuition and can spend that money on more fun things!

Having worked in a school as a tutor and unqualified teacher, I am happy to deliver one-to-one and small group supervision that suits the needs of my students. I find that no teaching method fits every student and as such over my career I have developed distinct teaching styles for different purposes: My lessons fall into three main categories which you can choose based on your needs. 1. Exam Preparation Sessions: best for A-level and GCSE students. High-yield sessions where we go over several topics you struggle with and solve exam questions. In these sessions, we also set strategies and a revision plan to make you exam-ready! 2. Deep Understanding: best for Undergraduates studying Biomedical courses and Oxbridge aspirants. I take your learning deeper and develop critical thinking skills, helping you to develop intuition and understanding for complex topics. I challenge you to reconsider your thoughts, analyse information and reach new conclusions just like a university supervision! 3. Path to Oxbridge sessions: shorter sessions with Q&A, resources, and interview tips. I would also be happy to arrange mock interviews. Successful students start early, so let's get working now!
