About Zoey
Hi! I'm currently a first-year medical student at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, and I also hold a Master's degree in Medical Science from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
I've always had a passion for science, learning, and helping others succeed academically. Throughout my education, I've developed a strong foundation in biology, anatomy, physiology, and other sciences, along with effective study strategies that have helped me navigate challenging coursework.
As someone who has spent many years as a student, I understand that not every subject comes easily and that everyone learns differently. I enjoy breaking down difficult concepts into simpler, more approachable explanations and helping students find that moment when everything finally clicks!
Outside of academics, I have experience working in healthcare as both a medical assistant and medical scribe, which has strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to connect with people from different backgrounds.
My goal as a tutor is to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and reaching their academic goals. I want my students to leave each session not only understanding the material better, but also feeling more confident in their ability to succeed!

My approach to tutoring is centered around making learning engaging, approachable, and tailored to each student's individual needs. I believe that truly understanding a concept is much more valuable than simply memorizing information. My goal is to help students build confidence in their abilities while developing effective study habits that will benefit them beyond our tutoring sessions.
**Teaching Methods and Techniques**
I focus on active learning, practice questions, and breaking down complex topics into smaller, manageable steps. I recognize that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching methods to their strengths and areas for improvement. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and explain concepts back to me to reinforce their understanding.
**Typical Lesson Plan**
I typically begin each session by reviewing the student's goals and identifying any topics they are struggling with. From there, I explain key concepts using examples, diagrams, and real-world applications. We then work through practice problems together before transitioning to independent questions to assess understanding. I finish each session by reviewing important takeaways and identifying areas to focus on moving forward.
**What Sets Me Apart**
As a current medical student with a Master's degree in Medical Science, I have extensive experience studying challenging science courses and developing effective learning strategies. My background has taught me the importance of patience, consistency, and finding creative ways to simplify difficult material. I understand firsthand how overwhelming academics can feel, and I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
**Who My Lessons Are For**
I primarily offer tutoring for high school and undergraduate students, particularly in biology, anatomy, physiology, and general science courses. I can also assist students with study strategies, test preparation, and developing stronger academic skills. My lessons are tailored to each student's academic level, learning style, and individual goals.
