About Matthew

Well to start out, I am a 17 year old high school senior. This was often questionable by people i've tutored in the past, but in the end they all realised how profesional I really was. In fact, I began a tutoring center in my school focusing on Calculus and lower level math. I was then offered to become a Teaching Assistant for the Calculus classes in my school. I work with ALL students and am extremely patient. I've recently helped a failing student in one of the classes raise his grade to a 91 by sitting with him for an hour a day going over all of the material. Furthermore, becuase I am a high school student, I'm able to understand the way each person I'm tutoring needs to be taught and can adabt in any way possible to make sure they're leaning the best way they can.

Mathematics is something I've always been passionate about. It's something that came easily to me throughout my entire school career. I'm currently in AP calculus BC (College calculus 2 level math) and am easily able to hold over a 90% average in the class. I'm going to be majoring in applied mathematics in college and want to go on to get a PhD and eventually end up teaching mathematics at a college level. Becuase I'm already so used to working with students on a daily basis, I've learned a lot since I've started and really truly enjoy what I'm doing, and am getting better each day.

I am a Teaching Assistant for the Calculus classes in my school, and even teach entire lessons on occasion. I often just help students one on one.

About the lesson

As I've mentioned above, I can really adabt to how the student learns the best. I myself am more of a visual learner and that is what I tend to start out with. I've created a three step method that has worked with all students in the past. I first start out by walking the student through the problem and carefully explain step by step on how to solve whatever it is we might be solving. Next, I like to have the student attempt to solve the problem with them explaining everything to me and if they need help, I will help until they can fully explain how to solve it. Finally I have the student attempt the problem on their own and repeat hat as many times as needed.
