About Nicholas

As a student, I have been involved in volunteering in schools as support for Maths classes and helped all of the students from the years 7 through 10, improving their grades from failing to a pass. I also tutored a student whilst at college raising her grades at AS level from a U to an A with her calculus being used as a top example in the class.

About the lesson

As an undergraduate student, I am not far removed from my GCSE and A-Level days and would teach individuals or small groups at that level. I believe that the use of visual aides through a whiteboard going through each and every step is the most crucial part and is what I start with. I then go through simple examples before increasing the complexities, making sure that the student understands the smaller finer details. Time will be allocated for them to try questions on their own whilst I am there to help if they get stuck. Depending on the student, small amounts of work can be set between sessions for them to increase their own skills.
