About Meg
With an M.F.A. from the Savannah College of Art and Design, my multidisciplinary background spans painting, fibers, printmaking, installation, video, and performance art, offering a rich foundation to engage with artists, develop lesson plans, and prepare artists for exhibitions, school, and other professional experience. Throughout my career as a practicing artist, I have engaged with various art communities and visited internationally renowned museums, including the Luma in Arles, France, the Louvre, and Art Basel in both Miami, Florida and Basel, Switzerland. My experience includes organizing and partaking in several group exhibitions, curating solo exhibitions, and mentoring emerging artists during my M.F.A as a professor’s assistant. I have experience in public education as a substitute teacher grades K-12, and am informed by college courses in child development and trauma. I am deeply passionate about helping artists succeed and thrive within supportive creative environments.

I’m a multidisciplinary artist offering lessons in painting, installation, and conceptual/experimental art. I am happy to offer my assistance and feedback from a purely aesthetic and compositional fine art standpoint with drawing, photography, film, fibers, etc., though I do not have extensive formal training in these areas and do not teach traditional drawing. I incorporate multidisciplinary artist research, provide drawing exercises, and encourage exploration with all media.
I tailor each lesson to the student’s interests and experience, combining art history and artist research, analyzing artworks, painting demonstration, guided practice, and open-ended projects and optional exercises/assignments to help them develop technical skills and their own creative voice.
My compassionate approach emphasizes exploration, curiosity, and confidence-building, encouraging students to experiment with different media while learning practical techniques. I offer feedback on the student’s work, progress, and provide resources such as related artists to research and books. Students may choose to read a selected book throughout the duration of our tutoring sessions, concluding with a final presentation. Students are also given the option to develop a cohesive body of work with an artist statement, gallery cards, business cards, and a press release to have “exhibition ready”.
Depending on the student’s level and needs, their studio practice will take up time in and outside of the meeting times, with dedicated times for constructive critique during our meeting, which will help the artist to develop their voice in talking about their work and practice critical discourse to gain a better understanding of artists, the art world, and their place in it. Additionally, I offer practical help with artist statements, portfolios, professional development, and applying for schools.
Lessons are suitable for students of all ages, from beginners to more advanced learners, and are designed to foster both personal expression and artistic growth.
