About Qi
As a quick introduction, I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at McGill University in the Honours Microbiology and Immunology program. As part of my program, I am also working in a vaccine-development lab. Notably, our lab deals with COVID-19, and influenza. I am specifically working on a new type of vaccine made from plants. Given my background in research, I have published 9 scientific articles, including some where I am the first author. I am also a seminar lecturer for the Harvard Association for US-China Relations, where I teach these exact six lectures on microbiology, immunology, and life at the microscopic scale. Lastly, I am the recipient of one of Canada's largest scholarships, the TD Scholarship for Community Leadership.

Dear Superprof Students,
Welcome to my Select Topics in Microbiology, Cellular Biology, and Molecular Biology course. As an honours student majoring in Microbiology and Immunology, I hope to present to you six unforgettable classes on how incredibly diverse and interesting biology is at the microscopic and molecular scale.
Covering hand-picked content from second- and third-year university biology, my course will explore interesting case studies and topics with you. Not only do we discuss how Napoleon Bonaparte may have actually been killed by the fungi on his wall, but also how our bodies deal with DNA chunks that jump around in the genome. These seminars aim to provide interesting, but surface-level, insight into what second- and third-year university biology looks like while grounding the content with real-life implications and examples. Specific topics include endosymbiosis, mitochondrial fusion and fission, virology, autoimmunity, microbiome/gut microbiota, cancer immunotherapy, and current research opportunities in biology! The difficulty of the course has been carefully modified so that students from all backgrounds can benefit from the lecture material; nonetheless, having some understanding of cellular anatomy and function, in addition to an interest in biology, will greatly help you in our journey together. I look forward to seeing you in my class!
