About Michael
I'm a former classroom teacher of both Math and Social Studies, and certified in two states, I tutor now because I enjoy it. The best tutors understand three things: Many students come to tutoring with little to no motivation; many have resigned themselves to thinking they are 'not good at Math;’ and they STILL enjoy the light bulb moment of getting a math concept. The more of those moments they experience, the less the first two weigh on them.

They key to understanding and mastering this level of math is not just memorizing, although it plays a role. It's understanding the WHY behind the math. What does it mean, not just what is the answer. When you know why, you can find the answer because the answer makes sense. Your student will leave with steps to follow every time they get that kind of problem so they have a guide going forward.
