With over four years of teaching experience, I can connect with any gender of student at any age. I find that encouraging humor really helps with engagement, and my students make lifelong connections with me as a result. Learning is easier when it's fun! My favorite teachers have always been the ones who crack jokes during class, so I aim to be that person for all of my students.
I also teach yoga on the side, and I know the physical and mental effects stress can have on students. I utilize my yoga background to work with students who have anxiety or stress around school and applying to college. My students know I am always available for a call when they need it-- and I'm happy about that!
I started teaching as a writing and art teacher at an elite private academy in Massachusetts. Since then I've tutored students across the country, helping them on their college journeys and raising test scores. I was in the top 1% of all SAT and ACT students, with a 2200/2400 on my SATs and a 34 on my ACTs. I've helped students raise their ACT scores 4-6 points and have helped raise SAT scores 100+ points. I graduated from Emerson College with a double major in Marketing Communications and Writing, Literature, and Publishing so my specialty is teaching English and literature. That being said, when it comes to high school level math I excel. I have a drawing board for guiding virtual lessons in all categories.
I charge $45 an hour because I am incredibly experienced and my students see notably positive results. However, I do offer discounts to military families or families with an annual income of less than $55k a year, because I believe everyone deserves a quality education.
