"Miss Donna Huang is a dynamic, dedicated, and creative piano teacher whose passion lies in teaching and empowering children. She values children's amazing gifts and hopes to inspire and empower her students to do their best and to be themselves. While imparting musical knowledge and skills to her students is essential, building positive relationships with her students is integral to their well-being and self-confidence - so that they know and feel that she believes in them always! She has over 14 years of piano teaching experience and have worked with children for more than 19 years. Additional Information...

With over 14 years of private piano teaching experience and over 22 years of classical piano music education, I have taught piano lessons to numerous students of various abilities and ages privately at my home and at community centres in the Metro Vancouver Area. I have taught from various popular beginners book series such as Wunderkeys, Faber & Faber, Alfred's, Bastien, and I follow the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus.

I had the honour of learning how to teach piano to students with the well-known and well-respected piano teacher Mr. Edward J. Parker for over a year through his book 'Piano Pedagogy and Performance Principles'.

I am an Associate of the London College of Music (University of West London) and I achieved my Grade 10 Honours RCM in Piano with an ARCT Teacher's Written. I am also a certified teacher in Orff music, Piano Adventures and WunderKeys. I hold a UBC Bachelor of Psychology and UBC Bachelor of Education (Elementary), and I am a BC Certified Elementary teacher for grades K-7. As a Certified BC Teacher, this means I have even more experience and training in teaching children and that I have successfully passed a criminal record check.

Music has shaped all parts of my life since I was a child. I started learning the piano at the age of 7, and I loved to perform, sing, and dance! All throughout elementary school and high school, I was happily singing in choir clubs, performing as an accompanist pianist for the elementary choir, dancing and creating hip hop moves after school at the Boys and Girls club, and performing music and dance in school talent shows, local music festivals, and community events. Learning music at a young age allowed me to share my creativity in various ways and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn music which has allowed me to express myself and truly be me!

Besides teaching, I love to read, eat yummy food, drink coffee/tea, chill and be inspired by others! My favourite composer of all is Frédéric Chopin, a virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era.

Group piano lessons & private piano lessons

I offer FUN, ENGAGING, and CHILD-CENTERED private piano lessons, beginner group piano lessons, play-based art and music workshops for all ages!

I am a DEDICATED certified piano teacher and certified elementary teacher with years of teaching experience from early childhood to adulthood.

I am COMMITTED to nurturing character, respect, and community instilling A LOVE FOR LEARNING and growing.

I love working with families and I endeavour to create a POSITIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT that enables all children to flourish and succeed!

I host two complimentary PIANO RECITALS each year to showcase all of our student's hard work.

Empowering. Engaging. Positive. Fun Experiences. Nurturing creativity, imagination, self-expression, and confidence. Committing to excellence and self-development. These are words that would describe my lessons.

A typical lesson in-person can include activities on/off the piano bench, partner games, challenges, method books, technique books, singing, duet, composition, improvisation, theory work, and more! This depends on the age, child's development, and interests!

A typical lesson online can include all of the in-person lesson plus activities through Zoom, response and call, group learning games, races, whiteboard features, rote learning, leader and follower, method books, and more!

There is also support outside of lessons through an online application I use to encourage students and the application motivates them to practise.
