About Heidi
I have a degree in Languages and Linguistics and I went on to study a diploma of TESOL last year. Since graduating I have greatly enjoyed giving private lessons online to Japanese students at Native Camp, I have worked at KAPLAN International teaching General English from elementary to advanced levels. I also teach online with English First to K-12 students in China.

I use a blend of a few different strategies I have learnt- my lessons are based around functional grammar- I teach with codes and introduce metalanguage. I use the IPA to teach phonics, I use the communicative language technique to ensure my classes have good flow and that the student is talking %70 of the time and myself only %30. When deconstructing/constructing text I use the Genre Approach in which I model the text for the student using authentic materials, which is also relevant to task based learning. It is important to find out what type of learner my student is so that I can tailor my teaching materials to their individual needs,
