About Gillian

I'm a final year law student at the University of Liverpool on exchange at the University of Monash. I have a long history of tutoring spanning over 2 years, with a variety of different age groups from as young as 8. My goal is to ease the learning and examination processes my students undertake in the simplest and most informative fashion.

I have gained a lot of experience during my time at university therefore I understand how the marking system works for both degree and high school level. I am also able to provide insight above the material I teach, whether that be administration or the best tips to prepare for exams such as planning a examination time table and the figuring out the best revision methods for an individual.

I also pride myself on being able to communicate positively with people of all ages, I am patient and understanding and a great problem solver. My students get strong results as I tailor bespoke lessons to each individual. I am a firm believer that the best way to improve a student's abilities is to help them discover how to enjoy the subject, and therefore to improve their confidence. As a personal tutor I have the luxury of being able to focus on specific areas to refine.

About the lesson

I like to establish a plan early on, tailored towards the student and time frame, to give a clear direction to the sessions. I am happy to be flexible according to their commitments.

My teaching methodology is based on my experience as a university student as a fellow student, I believe I am able to simplify and effectively teach complex topics in a simplified manner.

I am open to being very flexible with my tutoring, offering guidance in whichever areas the student wishes to focus on. Alternatively, I can structure sessions to cover all essential topics for the module being tutored.

I deliver classes in a variety of styles including seminar-style classes, problem question and essay classes for essential exam preparation and lecture-style classes where I deliver substantive content alongside a PPT that student will receive after the class. I am flexible with my methodology I will pick the best methodology or a combination depending on the student's needs.

I can review assignments to assist student in improving their work, and work on revision plans for exams.

I enjoy teaching and I have a passion for my subject. I think a good tutor should break down the course content to make things easier for their students, enabling them to achieve greater outcomes.
