About Dahlia

Hi, I’m Dahlia, a recent Bachelor of Psychology (Honors) graduate from Monash University. I believe psychology can feel overwhelming because of the many theories, but it becomes much easier, and more interesting, when you learn how to apply it to real life and clinical settings.

I focus on helping students connect psychological concepts to real-world examples, especially in understanding mental health and psychological disorders. This makes learning more relatable, memorable, and easier to grasp.

With my background in visual arts and exposure to different cultural contexts, I explain concepts in creative and accessible ways, tailored to each student’s learning style. I aim to build a supportive and encouraging space where students feel confident asking questions and developing a deeper understanding of psychology.

About the lesson

Through my academic and practical experience, I have developed strong skills in explaining complex concepts clearly, supporting structured learning, and helping students improve their academic performance.

My approach to tutoring is centered on helping students truly understand concepts rather than just memorizing content. I break down complex psychological theories into simple, clear explanations and use real-life examples to make the material more relatable and easier to retain.

I tailor each session to the student’s learning style and goals. This may include:
1. Going through difficult concepts step-by-step
2. Practicing exam-style questions and essay writing
3. Reviewing and improving assignments
4. Teaching effective study and revision strategies

I focus on building both understanding and confidence, so students feel comfortable asking questions and actively engaging in the learning process.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, though longer sessions (e.g. 90 minutes) can be arranged during exam periods.

A typical lesson may include:
1. Reviewing previous content or questions
2. Learning or clarifying key concepts
3. Applying knowledge through practice questions
4. Summarizing key takeaways and exam tips
