About Jihad
Jihad El-Amin is an experienced math teacher passionate about helping students succeed. As a math interventionist at South Doyle Middle School since August 2021, Jihad has created a curriculum for 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade math intervention, tracked student data, and collaborated with teachers throughout the school to collect data on students’ growth. Before this role, Jihad served as the Dean of Scholars/Math Teacher at Emerald Academy from June 2017 to July 2021, where he developed a self-paced math class on Google Classroom, trained teachers on cultural sensitivity and relationship building, and facilitated one-on-one training with teachers and staff on goal setting and classroom leadership. Jihad has also taught at Inskip Elementary as a 5th-grade teacher and at Vine Middle School as a 6th-grade math teacher. In these roles, he developed engaging lesson plans, facilitated professional development on cultural competence, and piloted an online math and music platform called Muzology. Jihad holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Growth and Learning from Tusculum College and is a Tennessee State Certified, Highly Qualified K-6 educator. Jihad El-Amin also has 45 credit hours of master's level school counseling training, which gives him a unique perspective and allows him to provide additional support to his students beyond just academic assistance.
