About Ben

I am a performance engineer working in Formula E and previously supporting IndyCar programmes. My career centres around analysing vehicle performance data, running advanced simulations, and solving complex engineering challenges in high-performance racing environments.

I grew up in France and am fully bilingual in English and French, having been educated through the French school system before completing my engineering degree in the UK. This allows me to support both academic French learners and bilingual students confidently.

What sets me apart as a tutor is that I use these subjects professionally every day. I can demonstrate how mathematics, physics, and programming are applied in real engineering projects, helping students see the purpose behind what they are learning. This often improves motivation, understanding, and exam performance.

Alongside my engineering career, I have experience working as a French interpreter and delivering technical presentations and workshops. These roles have strengthened my communication skills and my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and professionally.

I am reliable, patient, and committed to helping students achieve their academic goals while building confidence in their abilities.

My teaching focuses on making complex subjects clear, engaging, and practical. As a professional motorsport engineer, I teach maths, physics, French, and programming through real-world applications, helping students understand not just how to solve problems, but why the concepts matter.

Teaching methodology:
I use a structured but flexible approach tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. Lessons typically include:
- Breaking down difficult concepts into simple, logical steps
- Using real engineering and motorsport examples to reinforce understanding
- Guided problem solving to build confidence and independence
- Exam technique and revision strategies where required
- Interactive explanations rather than passive teaching
- My goal is to build long-term understanding, not just short-term memorisation.

Lesson structure and length:
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, but I am happy to offer longer sessions if needed, particularly for university-level material or exam preparation. Sessions are delivered online.

Qualifications and tutoring experience:
- MEng Mechanical Engineering, First Class Honours with Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence - University of Exeter
- Professional engineering experience in Formula E and IndyCar motorsport programmes
- Daily use of Python, MATLAB, and advanced simulation tools including CFD and performance modelling
- Experience presenting technical material, and running workshops in both academic and professional environments

Who my lessons are for

I support students across a wide range of levels:
- GCSE: Maths, Physics, French, Computer Science
- A-Level: Maths, Further Maths, Physics, French, Computer Science
- University: Engineering modules, Thermodynamics, Mechanics, Python programming, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
