About Jamie
I am a freelance Dancer and founder and Director of the Moving Upwards program. Living in and from London. For many years, I engaged with a wide range of artistically creative work and education. For the past 16 years, I primarily focused on training as a professional Jazz and Contemporary technique dancer. Over the course of my career, I've had the opportunity to explore various fields within the Arts, including; staging and directing, performing, choreographing. movement therapy, mental wellbeing and nutrition.
Through out this time I have successfully overcome a number of obstacles along my path which gives me personal experience and knowledge to share with my students via the program. I personally struggled in child hood. At just 16 years of age I was referred to a Homeless Hostel by the Social Services and became a resident to an organisation called Centrepoint. What for some would have been a prelude to a downward spiral became in my case the start of a journey towards success, achievement and strength!
Using my passion for dance as my anchor, I later went on to study a BA (hons) and finally a Masters degree in the same field.
It is my personal experience what has led me to formulate this workshop program. By sharing my life knowledge and skills in the practices of the Creative Arts and other disciplines I benefit from into the next generations, and to those who want to enhance their connections, perceptions and life itself. I have developed a practical way to use these disciplines as an empowering outlet of expression, and to help others embark on an exciting journey, into the discovery of the self!

The Moving Upwards Program features a 10 week course, each week hosts a session lasting 90 minutes. Within each session holds the same structure of 6 different exercises that we will explore each week, learning new skills, information, and experience as we move through the course.
Within each session we explore uniquely guided exercises within the practices and disciplines of; Meditation, Yoga, Dance, Topic Discussion, Breath-work, Affirmation and Partner work Q and A's.
An exciting aspect of these session offers the opportunity to grown interdisciplinary ensuring new vibrant energy covering all aspects of your life!

Jamie is an amazing tutor, I got so much out of her workshop, it was truly amazing! I definitely recommend her.
Really enjoyed Dancing with Jamie, her teaching style is really engaging found myself challenged and eager to do more! Not to mention the wide range of genres she covers, I've been able to practice my contemporary dance routines but also strengthen my physical strength with Yoga exercises. We recorded some of our session so I have been able to practice in the downtime which has been amazing. Will definitely be booking more classes!

Jamie is a lovely tutor. Her sessions take a nice pace and she is able to adapt her teaching to the varying needs of her participants.
