About Rebecca

Kia ora, I’m Rebecca! I am currently completing my MSc in Psychology after graduating with First Class Honors in Psychology from the University of Canterbury. I did my undergrad studies at the University of Auckland and now I'm back in my hometown of Christchurch!

I have over 8 years of experience tutoring, mentoring, and working with young people across New Zealand through a range of education and mentoring organizations. I am passionate about helping students feel more confident in their abilities and less overwhelmed by learning.

I understand that school and university is very stressful at times, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. It can be super anxiety-inducing asking questions in the middle of a lecture!

Outside of tutoring, my background includes psychology research, mentoring, youth work, and academic support. I especially enjoy helping students build confidence, improve their study skills, and realize they are more capable than they think.

About the lesson

I take a personalised and supportive approach to tutoring, as every student learns differently. I adapt my teaching style to suit the student and use a range of techniques including active recall, exam practice, visual learning, study planning, and breaking difficult concepts down into simpler steps.

I have over 8 years of tutoring and mentoring experience and have worked with several education and mentoring organisations across New Zealand. I have experience teaching students from Year 6 through to NCEA Level 3, as well as tutoring university students with psychology, statistics, essay writing, and study skills.

I am currently completing my MSc in Psychology after graduating with First Class Honours in Psychology. Lessons are usually 1–2 hours long and can focus on subject support, exam prep, assignments, confidence building, and study organisation.
